Friedrich Kuhnert
Born in Germany, Friedrich Wilhelm Kuhnert studied at the 'Königliche Akademische Hochschule für Bildende Künste' in Berlin. He became the most respected German animal painter of his time and a passionate traveller exploring the most remote areas of Egypt, East Africa and India, painting the animals in their natural habitats. Kuhnert co-wrote and illustrated a book with zoologist Johann Wilhelm Haacke.entitled Tierleben der Erde, (Animals of the Earth).
